Compared to last week: Feeder steers and heifers too lightly tested a week ago to make a full, complete comparison with this week, higher undertones evident. Very good demand remains for all weights of steers and heifers as the cash fed cattle market continues to greatly outperform the futures contract, cash fed cattle topped at 186.00 this week. Cattle feeders are feeling very bullish as this is the dog days of summer when the fat market usually struggles the greatest but packers still can not get enough cattle bought to keep their margins in tact. Grass conditions are good enough West River to keep yearlings turned out, which is keeping receipts light in those barns. Slaughter cows 3.00 to 6.00 higher, bulls no comparison available.
