Compared to last week: Feeder steers 5.00 to 10.00 higher, instances of 12.00 to 15.00 higher. Feeder heifers 5.00 to 8.00 higher, instances of 10.00 to 15.00 higher. Very good demand for all weights of steers and heifers, most notably on cattle in light enough weight and flesh to run on grass as yearlings. The cash fed cattle market strengthened a couple dollars to 178.00, which is really helping to support the feeder cattle market. The fall months of the CME Feeder Cattle contract posted gains around 6.00, this fact is also helping to fuel the market for grass type cattle. Rains came to most of the state last week, some areas though have missed it, which is greatly helping the grazing outlook. Corn planting in the northern part of the state was much behind the southeastern part due to the rains. Slaughter cows steady to 4.00 lower, bulls 2.00 to 3.00 higher.
