Compared to last week: A much larger offering this week, feeder steers under 600 lbs sharply higher, 600-900 lbs 10.00 to 20.00 higher, over 900 lbs 5.00 to 7.00 higher. Feeder heifers 10.00 to 20.00 higher. Very good demand for all weights of steers and heifers as cash fed cattle reached new, all time high record prices. The feeder market is incredibly active as cattle feeders are very anxious to get cattle bought as they are feeling very hopeful for the future months in the fat cattle market. Flesh condition remains a major factor in how high feeder prices reach at the auction as costs of gain this winter were much higher than anticipated and the corn market is rising towards 7.00 again. Turn out time is quickly nearing and the demand for grass suitable steers and heifers is red hot. The drought has not fully subsided and good spring moisture will be needed to ensure a full grazing season, but there will be a start and the grass is greening up and now. Cash fed cattle reached 186.00 this week, greatly higher than any level cattle feeders thought possible this spring. Slaughter cows steady to 1.00 higher, bulls steady.
