Compared to last week: Feeder steers steady to 2.00 higher, heifers unevenly steady. Very good demand remains for all weights of feeder cattle as the fed cattle market in the north continues to outperform the futures market. Cash fed cattle traded up to 148.00 this week, the strength of the fat market during this time period where fat supplies are the greatest is keeping a fire lit under the feeder cattle market. Yearlings continue to come off grass and cattle feeders are quick to act when they are offered, which creates a very active and fast moving market. The feedyard backgrounded yearlings are highly sought after as well as these cattle will reach their finished weights at a time where the Live Cattle futures are many dollars higher than the current month. Slaughter cows steady, bulls 2.00 to 3.00 lower.
