Compared to last week: In a narrow comparison feeder steers 2.00 to 4.00 higher, feeder heifers under 850 lbs steady to 4.00 lower, over 850 lbs 4.00 to 6.00 higher. Good demand remains for feeder cattle. We have now entered the time of year where feeder cattle offerings become more sporadic. The large, weekly runs are over and now it's more of a every other week schedule for many locations, which usually helps to create a good active market as cattle feeders have to act when the cattle are available or run the risk of not getting cattle bought that week. The corn market has backed off of it's highs, and is still at a very high level but the fear of it running higher has subsided for the time being. There has been rain across the state now, but still there is need for more in Western South Dakota, and corn is up and growing. The weekend was very wet, with large rains East River, helping to alleviate drought conditions. Cash fed cattle have weakened to 140.00-142.00, and futures have not rallied to meet the cash. Slaughter cows 1.00 to 2.00 higher, bulls steady.

Head, weight ranges, average weights and price ranges are exactly as USDA AMS filed them — nothing recomputed, nothing rounded — in USDA's own reporting structure. This is RaisedBeef's rendering of that data, not a copy of USDA's document.
Source: USDA AMS, as filed — nothing recomputed and nothing rounded. This summary aggregates the same sales the South Dakota barn reports cover, so it must never be added to a state total built from those barns.
