Compared to last week: Feeder steers under 550 lbs steady to 1.00 higher, 550-750 lbs 2.00 to 5.00 higher, over 750 lbs steady to 2.00 higher. Feeder heifers under 550 lbs 4.00 to 5.00 higher, 550-750 lbs steady to 2.00 higher, over 750 lbs mostly steady. Good demand this week for the many calves, mostly weaned, very good demand for the yearling offering. As the cash fed cattle market spiked to 120.00, even some 122.00 in Iowa, cattle feeders were willing to give more money to get feeder cattle bought. The rising CME Live Cattle contracts has helped to infuse more optimism into the marketplace, which is desperately needed as losses from backgrounders and finishers have been heavy and persistent. Slaughter cows were uneven, Breakers cows 3.00 higher, Boner and Lean cows steady to 2.00 lower, bulls 2.00 lower.
