Compared to last week: Feeder steers and steer calves steady to 5.00 lower. Feeder heifers 2.00-6.00 lower. Heifer calves under 500 lbs 8.00-12.00 lower; over 500 lbs steady to 2.00 lower. Demand moderated for feeder cattle this week as cattle futures made sharp declines. Had a few up days but not enough to make up the losses. Slaughter cattle trade hit a ceiling and turned cheaper as well, despite the continued gains on the Boxed Beef side. Heavy rains continued to keep numbers light at area sale barns, however there are less chances in the upcoming forecast. Summer's heat and humidity are upon us and this is limiting demand for un-weaned or short weaned calves. Slaughter cows sold steady to 4.00 higher, advance on Lean cows. Slaughter bulls 1.00-2.00 higher. Packer demand good. Demand also remains good for feeder or stocker cows.
