Compared to last week steer calves under 700 lbs sold 10.00 lower, 700 to 800 lbs feeders sold 8.00 lower, over 800 lbs sold 2.00 to 6.00 lower. Heifer calves under 600 lbs sold 3.00 to 5.00 higher, 600 to 800 lbs sold 4.00 to 5.00 lower and over 800 lbs sold 3.00 to 6.00 higher. Demand was good for bawling calves and feeder cattle. Demand was moderate to good for fall calving cows. Quite a few fresh bawling calves continue to move out of drought-stricken areas of the state. Bulk of the calves have only springtime vaccinations. Buyers have been getting along pretty well with weaning calves as they are light fleshed and eager to get to the bunks. Most of the yearlings came off summer grass with some out of backgrounding lots. Feedlots traded live sales sold 4.00 to 5.00 higher from 144.00-148.00 and dressed sales sold 2.00 to 3.00 higher from 229.00-230.00. Some cattlemen started chopping dryland corn for silage. Some contacts think they will be in full swing end of next week on irrigated corn for silage.

Head, weight ranges, average weights and price ranges are exactly as USDA AMS filed them — nothing recomputed, nothing rounded — in USDA's own reporting structure. This is RaisedBeef's rendering of that data, not a copy of USDA's document.
Source: USDA AMS, as filed — nothing recomputed and nothing rounded. This summary aggregates the same sales the Nebraska barn reports cover, so it must never be added to a state total built from those barns.
