Compared to last week, steers under 700 lbs sold steady. Over 700 lbs sold 2.00 to 6.00 lower. Heifers under 600 lbs sold with a lower undertone, 600 to 800 lbs 2.00 to 5.00 higher, over 800 lbs steady to 5.00 higher. Demand was good for calves and feeder cattle with moderate to instances good demand for fall bred cows. Few, dispersals of fall bred sandhill raised cows sold as dry conditions prevail and appears there will be limited winter feed, so some cattlemen decided to cut back on some herd numbers. Two special BBQ auctions were held this week with large attendance of buyers and sellers alike. Hot, humid weather most of the week didn't deter buyers from instate and surrounding states to procure top quality cattle for summer and fall feeding. Overall, the market was very good with most weights trading 30.00 to 40.00 per cwt more than last year! Overall tonnage on hay has been less than normal across most areas of the state. With spotty rain showers the dryland hay has been affected the most. Feedlot trade lower on the week as dressed sales sold 2.00 lower at 230.00 and live sales traded steady to 4.00 lower from 144.00 to 145.00.

Head, weight ranges, average weights and price ranges are exactly as USDA AMS filed them — nothing recomputed, nothing rounded — in USDA's own reporting structure. This is RaisedBeef's rendering of that data, not a copy of USDA's document.
Source: USDA AMS, as filed — nothing recomputed and nothing rounded. This summary aggregates the same sales the Nebraska barn reports cover, so it must never be added to a state total built from those barns.
