Compared to last week steers under 700 lbs sold steady to 2.00 higher, over 700 lbs sold 1.00 to 3.00 higher. Heifers under 700 lbs sold unevenly steady and over 700 lbs 3.00 to 4.00 higher. Demand was good to very good for weaned fall calves with good demand for feedlot placements, bred cows and pairs. Active bidding and buying from the internet were noted at several auctions. Few bred cows and pairs hitting the market as some ranchers are cutting numbers to lighten the load on their grass pastures this summer. Even though nice rains have come in the last couple of weeks, short grass prevails across most of the state. Along with low carry over on baled hay going into the 2022 growing season. Some of the bred cows and pairs did stay in the state with several lots going to out of state buyers. Row crop farming is a little behind of last year's plantings but with large planters it won't take long for the seeds to be planted as ground conditions should improve in the upcoming days as forecast highs in 90's in some locations across the state.

Head, weight ranges, average weights and price ranges are exactly as USDA AMS filed them — nothing recomputed, nothing rounded — in USDA's own reporting structure. This is RaisedBeef's rendering of that data, not a copy of USDA's document.
