Compared to last week flyweight steers sold 2.00 higher, 500 to 800 lbs sold steady, over 800 lbs 2.00 to 3.00 lower. Heifers under 500 lbs sold 10.00 higher on a thin test, 500 to 700 lbs sold unevenly steady, over 700 lbs sold steady to 2.00 lower. Demand was good for light weight or grass type cattle with moderate to good demand for feeder cattle. Optimism continues throughout the state that Mother Nature will bring much needed April showers so the May flowers and grass will grow! If moisture doesn’t come, there might be several liquidations or downsizing of cow herds across the Cornhusker state. Quite a lot of spring tillage is going on. Some planting of springtime crops of oats and other forages that can be harvested early and those irrigated fields will be replanted with another crop for additional feed or to be sold. Nebraska feedlot sold on a steady to slight uptick on the cash side of the market. Live sales sold from 138.00 to 140.00 and dressed sales at 222.00.

Head, weight ranges, average weights and price ranges are exactly as USDA AMS filed them — nothing recomputed, nothing rounded — in USDA's own reporting structure. This is RaisedBeef's rendering of that data, not a copy of USDA's document.
Source: USDA AMS, as filed — nothing recomputed and nothing rounded. This summary aggregates the same sales the Nebraska barn reports cover, so it must never be added to a state total built from those barns.
