Compared to last week most comparable lots of steers sold 15.00-20.00 lower. Heifers under 700 lbs sold 15.00 to 20.00 lower on a thin test with 700 lbs and over heifers 4.00 to 5.00 lower. Demand was moderate for feeder cattle with good demand noted for fall bred cows and spring pairs. Quite a few cows by the cwt. went back to the country for feeding and breeding. Another week of depressing feedlot trade but sales still trading with a positive basis to the CME live cattle board. Live sales from area feedlots sold 3.00 lower at 110.00 and dressed sales 4.00 to 5.00 lower from 180.00-181.00. Another week of poor hay production as rain has been bountiful across the state. But, most pastures look very good going into summer.
