Compared to the last release report, steers under 600 lbs sold 4.00 to 6.00 higher, 600 to 800 lbs sold 10.00 higher and over 800 lbs sold 4.00 higher. Heifers under 600 lbs sold 2.00 to 5.00 higher, over 600 lbs sold 5.00 to 7.00 higher. Demand was good to very good at all reporting auctions. Grass cattle buyers came from surrounding states to bid and buy cattle for summer turnout. Also, many feedlot pens have dried considerably the last week and farmer/feeders came to town to procure cattle before they become swamped with planting spring crops. Corn planting across the mid west is roughly three weeks behind and once farmers start to plant, purchasing cattle wont even cross there mind until the planters are back in the shed. Large strings on hand at auctions as many cattle have been delayed 2 to 4 weeks due to the effects of the two bomb cyclones across the state. Offerings included weaned fall calves and old crop spring calves along with yearling feeder cattle. Most offerings sold in medium flesh condition with a few thin fleshed and fleshy cattle hitting the scale. Cattle on Feed was released Thursday due to "Good Friday" with on feed April 1 102 percent, Mar placements 105 percent and Mar marketings 97 percent.

Head, weight ranges, average weights and price ranges are exactly as USDA AMS filed them — nothing recomputed, nothing rounded — in USDA's own reporting structure. This is RaisedBeef's rendering of that data, not a copy of USDA's document.
Source: USDA AMS, as filed — nothing recomputed and nothing rounded. This summary aggregates the same sales the Nebraska barn reports cover, so it must never be added to a state total built from those barns.
