North Dakota Weekly Cattle Auction Summary

USDA Livestock, Poultry & Grain Market News · Federal-State Market News Service, Bismarck, ND (LS-BM)
Receipts 10,273Last week 6,992Year ago 13,882

Compared to last week: Feeder steers 5.00 to 10.00 higher, heifers 8.00 to 15.00 higher. Very good demand again this week, as the cash fed cattle market spiking to 215.00 the prior week infused new enthusiasm to own cattle. Cattle feeders are operating at a very profitable level currently, but are struggling to buy cattle that fit with where the back months of the CME Live Cattle futures are at. The open winter has allowed cattle to gain easily, helping cattle feeders' bottom lines.

Head, weight ranges, average weights and price ranges are exactly as USDA AMS filed them — nothing recomputed, nothing rounded — in USDA's own reporting structure. This is RaisedBeef's rendering of that data, not a copy of USDA's document.
Source: USDA AMS, as filed — nothing recomputed and nothing rounded. This summary aggregates the same sales the North Dakota barn reports cover, so it must never be added to a state total built from those barns.
