Compared to last week: Feeder steers under 700 lbs 10.00 to 15.00 higher, over 700 lbs 3.00 to 8.00 higher. Feeder heifers 3.00 to 7.00 higher. Very good demand for all weights of steers and heifers, however the best remains on those light enough in weight and flesh to background on this summer's grass. As the Feeder Cattle contracts for the fall marketing period are about 20.00 higher than the current month there is a great amount of optimism amongst the backgrounders hoping that they can have another banner year. Cattle feeders aren't quite as optimistic as they have struggled with profitability all winter, yet cash fat cattle in 190.00 topped at 190.00 this week, which is where many cattle have breakeven prices at.

Head, weight ranges, average weights and price ranges are exactly as USDA AMS filed them — nothing recomputed, nothing rounded — in USDA's own reporting structure. This is RaisedBeef's rendering of that data, not a copy of USDA's document.
Source: USDA AMS, as filed — nothing recomputed and nothing rounded. This summary aggregates the same sales the North Dakota barn reports cover, so it must never be added to a state total built from those barns.
