North Dakota Weekly Cattle Auction Summary

Mon Apr 5, 2021

Receipts 10,544Last week 2,887Year ago 2,676

Compared to last week: Feeder steers 3.00 to 7.00 higher, heifers under 750 lbs 3.00 to 7.00 higher, over 750 lbs 1.00 to 3.00 higher. Very good demand for all weights and classes this week. As the cash fed cattle market jumped up to 125.00, cattle feeders and backgrounders were willing to chase the market higher. Extreme drought continues to grip the entire state as spring moisture has not arrived, cattle producers are adjusting their numbers already as many heifers that would normally be held back for replacements are being offered at the auction.

Head, weight ranges, average weights and price ranges are exactly as USDA AMS filed them — nothing recomputed, nothing rounded — in USDA's own reporting structure. This is RaisedBeef's rendering of that data, not a copy of USDA's document.
Source: USDA AMS, as filed — nothing recomputed and nothing rounded. This summary aggregates the same sales the North Dakota barn reports cover, so it must never be added to a state total built from those barns.
