No price comparisons available as this the first release of this report for the fall marketing season. Moderate to good demand for yearling feeder steers and heifers, best demand, by far, was seen on full loads of light fleshed cattle. Cattle feeders are eager to place yearlings in their yards as they look to have a plentiful supply of feed this year but with the current cash fed cattle market and a very weak outlook from the futures contracts there is much concern that feeder cattle can't be bought cheap enough to breakeven, let alone make a profit. Feeder cattle producers are hesistant to sell cattle currently as the feeder cattle market is not high enough to generate a positive return for them.

Head, weight ranges, average weights and price ranges are exactly as USDA AMS filed them — nothing recomputed, nothing rounded — in USDA's own reporting structure. This is RaisedBeef's rendering of that data, not a copy of USDA's document.
Source: USDA AMS, as filed — nothing recomputed and nothing rounded. This summary aggregates the same sales the North Dakota barn reports cover, so it must never be added to a state total built from those barns.
