Compared to last report: This week saw two yearling specials, however no comparisons can be made on feeder steers due to very light sales receipts last week. Feeder heifers sold steady to 3.00 higher in a very narrow comparison. Yearling quality was mostly average to attractive, with most offerings coming straight off grass. Flesh conditions were mostly light, however limited offerings were in light to moderate flesh. Demand was mostly moderate, with moderate to good demand seen at times. Limited load lots were seen this week, however buyers were able to piece together loads as many packages of yearlings were on offer. Market activity this week was mostly moderate to active. Weigh up cows sold on mostly good demand this week. Both packer and feeding buyers were very active in bidding on offerings. Feeding buyers were the driving force in the market this week as they pushed to buy cows suitable to feed. Quality was mostly plain to average this week and feeding buyers had limited feeding type cows to choose from. Packers showed strong demand for cows too as they continue to purchase cows for immediate harvest only. Packers pushed high quality, high yielding cows into the low to mid 70's before buying them away from feeding buyers. Weigh up conditions were average to below average for buyers this week. With temperatures pushing well into the 90s all cows and bulls were pushing fill. Slaughter cows sold steady to 3.00 higher, feeding cows were too lightly tested to develop an accurate market trend, however higher undertones were noticed. Slaughter bulls sold steady to 3.00 lower. Seasonally higher bull numbers have packers backed off on bulls as many are being sold off after breeding season. Packers opted to put most thin bulls on feed in order to add some value to them. Young cows sold with higher undertones on good demand. Offerings were light.

Head, weight ranges, average weights and price ranges are exactly as USDA AMS filed them — nothing recomputed, nothing rounded — in USDA's own reporting structure. This is RaisedBeef's rendering of that data, not a copy of USDA's document.
Source: USDA AMS, as filed — nothing recomputed and nothing rounded. This summary aggregates the same sales the Montana barn reports cover, so it must never be added to a state total built from those barns.
