Compared to last week feeders sold steady to 5.00 higher. A fairly light run this week as rains have helped brighten the outlook a bit and has slowed the immediate need for selling. A highlight this week as a load of 717 lb. steers that sold on Tuesday at Kingsville Livestock Market for 190.00. The monthly Cattle on Feed report was released on Friday afternoon. The report was slightly bearish as most pre-report estimates were much too low on the placement number. There was actually several people who called this once estimates came out, and as always the actual reported numbers don't mean as much as the difference between pre-report estimates and actual numbers released. Cattle on feed was reported at 101 percent, placements at 102 percent and marketings at 96 percent. Boxed beef cutouts were mixed for the week with choice closing at 264.28, up 0.91 and select at 237.94, down 1.65 compared to the previous week. Negotiated feedlot sales as of Friday afternoon totaled just over 98K head. Live sales in the south were reported at mostly 141.00-142.00 in the north 145.00-150.00 and dressed sales in the north at 234.00. The Missouri Stocker Formula consist of 2575 head with a weighted average weight of 538.35 lbs. and a price value of 198.25, down 0.34 from last week. The steer/heifer spread is 22.67.
