Another light volume week of feeder cattle on offer in Kansas. Compared to last week, most weight ranges of steers and heifers sold 10.00 to 15.00 lower. Pressure from the CME Cattle complex and the typical summer slump in beef prices have put a damper on the feeder cattle run-up at the present time. Compared to last week, trading of Kansas negotiated fed cattle sold 10.00 to 11.00 lower at 237.00 to 238.00. In the hay market, prices and movement remained steady. With warmer temperatures, abundant sunshine, and windy conditions, fields have dried sufficiently, allowing hay harvest activities to progress across much of the state. Many producers are in the midst of second cutting alfalfa, while brome harvest is underway in several areas. Hay season is now in full swing as favorable weather has supported fieldwork.

Head, weight ranges, average weights and price ranges are exactly as USDA AMS filed them — nothing recomputed, nothing rounded — in USDA's own reporting structure. This is RaisedBeef's rendering of that data, not a copy of USDA's document.
Source: USDA AMS, as filed — nothing recomputed and nothing rounded. This summary aggregates the same sales the Kansas barn reports cover, so it must never be added to a state total built from those barns.
