Compared to last week's single sale week, steers and heifers sold 5.00 to 10.00 higher. Demand was good to very good. No recent price comparison on slaughter cows and bulls. Receipts were limited this week due to Winter Storm Blair and its aftermath. The state had treacherous road conditions at times and moving livestock became a challenge for ranchers. Negotiated live sales of fed cattle in Kansas sold 3.00 to 4.00 higher at 200.00 with few up to 202.00. This week, in the hay market demand remained light, while movement of previously purchased grinding hay bumped up significantly for the southwest region. Prices were mostly steady. The supply of hay available remains heavy as almost all contributors indicated that there is lots of hay sitting around.

Head, weight ranges, average weights and price ranges are exactly as USDA AMS filed them — nothing recomputed, nothing rounded — in USDA's own reporting structure. This is RaisedBeef's rendering of that data, not a copy of USDA's document.
Source: USDA AMS, as filed — nothing recomputed and nothing rounded. This summary aggregates the same sales the Kansas barn reports cover, so it must never be added to a state total built from those barns.
