Compared to last week, steers and heifers sold uneven; 3.00 lower to 3.00 higher. Demand was moderate to good. Slaughter cows sold 5.00 to 8.00 higher. Slaughter bulls not well tested. This past week, negotiated live sales in Kansas sold 1.00 higher at 186.00. In the hay market, This past week, demand remained light, and prices were mostly steady, however, the amount of hay transported was up. The hay market seems to be sluggish, as there is a lot of silage and high moisture corn out there to feed. Customers are in no hurry to buy hay at this time, and some producers are in no hurry to sell at lower prices. Producers are busy in the fields finishing up corn harvest and planting wheat. Some folks are also finishing up with the last cutting of alfalfa for the season. According to the US Drought Monitor's High Plains summary for the week of September 24th, aside from Kansas, where rainfall provided widespread drought relief, most of the High Plains experienced unchanged or worsening drought conditions.

Head, weight ranges, average weights and price ranges are exactly as USDA AMS filed them — nothing recomputed, nothing rounded — in USDA's own reporting structure. This is RaisedBeef's rendering of that data, not a copy of USDA's document.
Source: USDA AMS, as filed — nothing recomputed and nothing rounded. This summary aggregates the same sales the Kansas barn reports cover, so it must never be added to a state total built from those barns.
