Compare to two weeks ago, feeder steers and heifers overall sold uneven, 2.00 lower to 4.00 higher. Slaughter cows sold 7.00 to 9.00 higher. Slaughter bulls sold 5.00 to 6.00 higher. Compared to last week, fed slaughter steers and heifers in the feed yards sold 1.00 lower at 174.00. In the hay market, Compared to the last report, demand remains low, trade activity picked up a bit, and prices were mostly steady and although there were no price changes, dairy hay seems to have a softer undertone. Folks are still getting a lot of alfalfa offered to them but there are not many takers. Most producers state that they could use some rain as fields and pastures are drying out.
