Compared to last week, feeder steers and heifers overall sold on a light test, though a higher undertone was noted. Slaughter cows sold steady to 3.00 higher. Slaughter bulls sold steady to 1.00 lower. Demand was reported as moderate to good. Compared to last week, fed slaughter steers and heifers in the feed yards sold 5.00 to 6.00 higher from 184.00 to 185.00. In the hay market, demand remains good, trade activity remains slow, and prices remained mostly steady. Hay is starting to hit the ground, even with rain chances, and new crop prices continue to trickle in. However, there seems to be a standoff between buyers and sellers, with buyers wanting lower prices before purchasing and sellers wanting to maintain current price due to dry conditions.

Head, weight ranges, average weights and price ranges are exactly as USDA AMS filed them — nothing recomputed, nothing rounded — in USDA's own reporting structure. This is RaisedBeef's rendering of that data, not a copy of USDA's document.
Source: USDA AMS, as filed — nothing recomputed and nothing rounded. This summary aggregates the same sales the Kansas barn reports cover, so it must never be added to a state total built from those barns.
