Compared to last week, feeder steers and heifers under 700 lbs sold on a light test with a lower undertone noted; over 700 lbs sold uneven, 2.00 lower to 2.00 higher. Slaughter cows overall sold 1.00 to 2.00 higher. Slaughter bulls sold steady. Demand overall was moderate to good. Compared to last week, fed slaughter steers and heifers in the feedyards sold 2.00 higher from 160.00 to 161.00. In the hay market, demand remained good, prices remained mostly steady with a slight undertone of softness to round bales of alfalfa. Trade activity was slow to moderate. Finding hay to purchase remains difficult and anyone who raises hay and cattle is definitely hanging on to the hay.
