Compared to last week, feeder steers overall sold 1.00 to 5.00 higher, with the exception of 600 to 700 lbs selling 1.00 to 2.00 lower. Feeder heifers overall sold 1.00 to 5.00 higher, with the exception of 500 to 600 lbs selling steady to 1.00 lower. Slaughter cows sold uneven; breakers and boners 1.00 to 4.00 lower, leans 3.00 to 4.00 higher. Slaughter bulls sold 6.00 to 7.00 higher. Demand was good. Compared to last week, fed slaughter steers and heifers in the feedyards sold steady at 155.00. In the hay market, demand remained strong and prices were mostly steady, with some alfalfa strengthening in the southwest and south-central regions. Producers and brokers report there is a lot of hay moving. They continue to receive lots calls from folks needing to purchase hay, however, most say that they are only moving hay to their regular customers.
