Compared to two weeks ago, Steers less than 800 lbs sold 5.00 to 8.00 higher, while those over 800 lbs sold steady. Heifers less than 800 lbs sold 3.00 to 5.00 higher, while those over 800 lbs sold steady to 2.00 lower. Slaughter Cows and Bulls sold steady to 3.00 lower. Buyer demand was good for a moderate to heavy sale supply. Compared to last week, Fed Slaughter Steers and Heifers in the feedyards sold 2.00 lower at 140.00. Hay market prices remained mostly steady for alfalfa and steady for grass hay. The south-central region seems to have an undertone of softness to the market. Although there were no price adjustments, folks report that there seems to be plenty of hay for now and that there have been quite a few folks wanting to sell hay. All other regions pricing remains firm for now, with concerns of higher operating cost next year and worsening drought. There were a few large sales of hay last week but in general trades remained slow.

Head, weight ranges, average weights and price ranges are exactly as USDA AMS filed them — nothing recomputed, nothing rounded — in USDA's own reporting structure. This is RaisedBeef's rendering of that data, not a copy of USDA's document.
Source: USDA AMS, as filed — nothing recomputed and nothing rounded. This summary aggregates the same sales the Kansas barn reports cover, so it must never be added to a state total built from those barns.
