Compared to last week, feeder steers under 800 lbs not well tested; over 800 lbs sold uneven, 2.00 lower to 1.00 higher. Heifers under 700 lbs not well tested; over 700 lbs sold 2.00 lower. Demand was moderate to good. Breaking and Boning slaughter cows sold 1.00 to 3.00 lower and slaughter bulls sold 5.00 lower. Hay market prices were mostly steady across the board, on limited test. Demand remains good for alfalfa, and folks are relieved that lots of hay is getting baled up. Most report high yields, 2-3 tons/acre, but lower quality for this first cutting, with only a few folks able to put up dairy quality hay. Slaughter steers and heifers in Kansas sold this week from 120.00 to 126.00 on light trading volume and not enough purchases in any price range for a full market trend.

Head, weight ranges, average weights and price ranges are exactly as USDA AMS filed them — nothing recomputed, nothing rounded — in USDA's own reporting structure. This is RaisedBeef's rendering of that data, not a copy of USDA's document.
Source: USDA AMS, as filed — nothing recomputed and nothing rounded. This summary aggregates the same sales the Kansas barn reports cover, so it must never be added to a state total built from those barns.
