Compared to last week, no recent price comparison on feeder steers under 800 lbs; over 800 lbs sold steady to 4.00 lower. No recent price comparison on heifers under 700 lbs; over 700 lbs sold uneven, 1.00 lower to 3.00 higher. Demand was moderate to good. Slaughter Cows sold uneven; 1.00 lower to 1.00 higher and slaughter bulls sold 1.00 to 2.00 higher. In Kansas negotiated live purchases of slaughter steers and heifers traded steady to 1.00 lower at 119.00-120.00. Hay market prices were steady for alfalfa and grass hay. Demand remains good for alfalfa on a very limited supply. After a long, wet spell, hay is finally hitting the ground, which is good news for those that only had a week’s worth of inventory left. Folks have been busy swathing and are getting bales made, despite the rain and high humidity. Most will be grinder quality hay but at least there will be something to feed.

Head, weight ranges, average weights and price ranges are exactly as USDA AMS filed them — nothing recomputed, nothing rounded — in USDA's own reporting structure. This is RaisedBeef's rendering of that data, not a copy of USDA's document.
