Compared to last week, steers sold steady to 5.00 higher, with the greatest advance in the 7 weight steers. Heifer calves sold 4.00 to 7.00 higher, while yearling heifers sold steady to 2.00 higher. Demand was good. Slaughter cows and bulls sold 2.00 to 4.00 higher. Hay market prices were mostly steady for all hay types; demand remains strong for alfalfa and folks report they have received plenty of inquiring phone calls. Sales slowed a bit this past week, however, and now that we are pretty much guaranteed a first cutting, there seems to be a softer undertone to pricing.

Head, weight ranges, average weights and price ranges are exactly as USDA AMS filed them — nothing recomputed, nothing rounded — in USDA's own reporting structure. This is RaisedBeef's rendering of that data, not a copy of USDA's document.
Source: USDA AMS, as filed — nothing recomputed and nothing rounded. This summary aggregates the same sales the Kansas barn reports cover, so it must never be added to a state total built from those barns.
