Only one reporting feeder cattle sale in Iowa market news program this week of Thanksgiving. Compared to last week, this sale sold 10.00 to 20.00 lower on steers and heifers sold 5.00 to 10.00 lower with instances 30.00 plus lower on some weights of steers and heifers. Slaughter steers and heifers sold 8.00 to 11.00 lower. Most slaughter cows sold 5.00 lower except lean cows traded steady. The feeder cattle sale happened on Monday when the livestock sector thought the sky was falling as the board fell the limit down in both feeders and live cattle on the CME futures. Spillovers on the sell offs prevailed through the slaughter cattle auctions during the week. A lot of negative news in the cattle sector in the last few weeks has taken the upward steam off the cattle markets. Hopefully it will smooth out with minimal prices swings prevailing in the upcoming weeks.

Head, weight ranges, average weights and price ranges are exactly as USDA AMS filed them — nothing recomputed, nothing rounded — in USDA's own reporting structure. This is RaisedBeef's rendering of that data, not a copy of USDA's document.
Source: USDA AMS, as filed — nothing recomputed and nothing rounded. This summary aggregates the same sales the Iowa barn reports cover, so it must never be added to a state total built from those barns.
