Compared to last week, steers less than 550 lb sold sharply higher, 550 to 800 lbs sold steady to 5.00 higher, 800 to 900 lbs sold 6.00 to 7.00 lower and over 900 lbs sold unevenly steady. Heifers less than 700 lbs sold sharply higher in the week. Yearling heifers sold steady on a light test. Slaughter steers and heifers sold 2.00 to 4.00 higher with no test on slaughter cows from the previous week for a comparison. Demand was good throughout the week. Calf buyers laying some big cash down this week on fresh bawlers coming off the cow. Some have fall preconditioned shots, others only springtime shots. Silage chopping and laying in some type of fall feed is getting underway across the state.
