Compared to last week: Combined weighted average report for 3 Colorado auction markets included: Winter Livestock, La Junta Livestock, and Livestock Exchange. Trade activity and demand moderate on feeder cattle, moderate to good on slaughter cows and bulls. Feeder cattle offerings this week were only 20 percent of what was offered last week while replacement cattle offerings were up 20 percent. Feeder steers under 600 lbs sold mostly 3.00 higher, 600-800 lbs sold sharply lower, and no comparable trades on steers over 800 lbs. Feeder heifers under 450 lbs sold 9.00 lower on a light test, 450-750 lbs sold mostly 2.00 to 7.00 higher, and over 750 lbs too thinly traded for an accurate trend. Average dressing slaughter cows and bulls sold mostly steady to 2.00 higher with the exception of average dressing Leans, selling 2.00 lower. The next available report will be Monday, May 24, 2021.
