As temps soared into the high 90's to over 100 degrees near sale time, a nice crowd turned out for the monthly SW MO Hay Auction, with other buyers leaving bids or bidding by phone. As dry conditions seem to persist to start the month of September off, the hay supply was moderate for this month's auction. The round bales were 60% of the offering and the large and small square bales were 40%. Most of the mix grass round bales were a touch lower this month with the other types selling mostly steady and up. A few exceptions on the Alfalfa side topped the sale selling at 457.00/ton after the math was completed. Tonnage prices on other Hay: Alfalfa Premium and up 446.00 to 457.00/ton, Alfalfa/Brome -Good 191.00/ton, Alfalfa/Orchard Good 190.00 to 230.00/ton Premium 333.00 to 377.00/ton; Orchard/Brome Lg squares 262.00 to 430.00/ton.
