Special Note:Southwest Missouri Hay Auction is held the 1st Saturday of each month at 10:00 am sharp. All hay sold per bale

with average weights provided for each lot and test results posted when available. Consignors are encouraged to speak with

auction management about hay testing and timelines for testing.

As for most of the state has seen dryer conditions here in the last few weeks of August into the first week of September the demand for hay has increased overall as buyers showed very good interest in buying hay for the future weeks and months ahead with the lack of rain. Most have seen cooler temps for the end of August going into September. There was a large crowd on hand for the September hay auction here in Southwest Missouri. Much of the hay is just in the fair to good

range at best and hay truly getting in the higher grades is much more difficult to find. Much of the better-quality hay offered at

the auction came with a lot of free miles of freight. Given the size of the offering the market did well and prices were

better again this month. The fair to good quality hay and the Good hay was a bit higher. There is still an abundance of supply in the state of Missouri. Total offerings 1330 or 30% were round bales and 3094 or 70% was square bales. After tallying everything up, the fair to good quality grass round bales figured mostly 58-110 per ton, good quality round bales of grass mostly 110-125 ton. Some round bales of Alfalfa mostly good quality 150-200 per ton. Large square bales of grasses good to premium 125-185 with a few lots at 200 to 215 per ton. Large squares of alfalfa good to premium quality figured to 200-235. Top quality grass hay 185 to 215 per ton, with top quality alfalfa selling from 235 to 285 per ton.
