Southwest MO remains very wet. Producers have managed to get some hay baled but many still haven't gotten in the fields yet. Supply was a mixture of old crop hay as well as some new crop hay starting to show up for offer now. Pastures in MO are considered some of the best in the nation and currently if anything some sunshine would be very beneficial. The hay market remains very strong although equine interest wasn't as strong this month and the extreme tops from last month were not found this auction. Overall hay quality was excellent across the board. If there was one thing that was noticed this month in concern to the market for round bales it was that customers do have a preference for bale size and want bales which they can handle not only for ease of hauling but also with feeding. Once math was done fair to good quality grass round bales sold from 80-120 per ton with a load of tested premium fescue selling for 156.00 per ton. Round bales of Alfalfa good to premium sold from 175-260 per ton. Medium and large square bales of grass mostly good to premium figured 120-190 per ton and good to premium alfalfa some with grass mix mostly from 150-220 and some premium to supreme quality alfalfa topped at 306 per ton. Small squares accounted for 3291 bales or 75% of the total offering. The top sale of small squares this month was some premium quality orchard and brome mix with a trace of alfalfa which figured up to 438.00 per ton. Most of the small squares of premium and supreme alfalfa figured 320.00-350.00 per ton. Small squares of good and premium mixed grass sold much weaker than the last comparisons.
