Southwest Missouri Hay Auction held their one-year anniversary celebration in conjunction with the monthly hay auction. It was hard to tell if the locally dry weather or the free cheeseburgers was the reason attendance was so great this month, but either way there was a large crowd on hand. Southwest and West Central MO have been missing out on rains that much of the rest of the state have gotten the last couple of months and there is some feeding taking place. Hay consignments that seemed to be baled right and stored inside shortly after and retained color sold steady. Lower quality grass hay was much less desirable and sold with light demand. High quality hay in 3x3 square bales and small squares sold steady to firm with some alfalfa nearing $300 per ton, some alfalfa grass mixes $250 per ton once you did the math. Southwest Missouri Hay Auction would like to express their thanks and appreciation to all the buyers and sellers that have made this past year a success.
