With improved moisture conditions and pastures across the state currently rated 82 percent in the good to excellent categories the hay market has come under pressure. Prices across the spectrum were lower this month. Much of the Fair to Good quality round bales of fescue and mixed grass hay figured up just slightly on either side of $100 per ton. The top lot this month was a consignment of tested Premium quality 2nd cutting Alfalfa from KS which figured up to 283.00 per ton. Attendance was good with several familiar faces as well as many new one's present. It seemed as if many had perhaps not planned to buy hay, but rather feel out the market as few trucks came pulling trailers this month. Several however bought up a load or two and then quickly headed back home to get trailers showing back up to load shortly after the auction was complete.
