As filedThe hay lot was full of buyer once again this month for a good offering of hay. A few consignments of lower quality hay, as some barn clean outs were occurring, but plenty of high-quality cattle hay and horse hay also available in the offering. The market for alfalfa hay was off some and sold a bit lower than last month while high quality grass hay was sharply higher and out selling the alfalfa in some cases. Two top consignments of premium quality horse hay in 3x3 squares, once math was done, sold for $510.00 and $550.00 per ton! There is still concern about drought conditions and lack of moisture in some areas going into the growing season and not willing to be setting with no hay on hand if rains fail to produce this year.
