On Saturday September 12th, Empire Livestock Auction (Bath, NY) hosted the Central New York Board Sale in conjunction with their regularly scheduled feeder cattle special. The Central New York Board Sale is coordinated by Cornell Agriculture Cooperative Extension Service. This year's sale offered 301 head broken into 11 lots. Consignors retain a right of refusal in which 4 of the 11 lots were marked as "no sales." Demand was good despite 4 lots not being sold. All cattle consigned for the board sale received two rounds of modified live vaccine, were de-wormed, and weaned. Most of these cattle are stocker cattle that have been running on grass pastures throughout the summer. Cattle are sold while on the farm with a schedule delivery period between October 1-15th. Cattle are USDA graded using USDA feeder cattle standards and sold on estimated weights. A 2% pencil shrink applies with a 4 cent slide for cattle weighing 25-50 lbs over the estimate and 6 cent slide for cattle weighing 50 lbs or move over the estimated weights.
