This report is for today's in barn Cattle, for today's board sale results see Buckhannon-Board Sale report

Lighter than average attendance today, snow and slippery road conditions with several temporary roadblocks due to accidents this morning. Despite this and getting late in the season, trade remained very active. Lighter head run than compared to last but it should be noted that much of the offering was weaned and advertised as vaccinated. Compared to other runs this fall there was a greater percentage of #2 shoulder type Cattle, not overly fleshy, good condition to go into and come out of a moderate winter feeding program and graze next summer. Considerable strength in the market considering national and regional trends of the past several weeks but also somewhat selective on type and weight. Four weight Steers higher by $3-$13 per cwt, sharp decline in the 5 weights and 6 weights spot on steady compared to last. Heifers saw a sharp decline on the light end of the run while 6 weights were steady to $7 per cwt lower; Feeder Bulls, sharp decline for 4 weights and a sharp increase for 5-6 weights. Good study in local demand.
