As filed

Compared to last Thurs, not enough stocker or feeder cattle last week for accurate trends. Feeder cattle futures bought the fact following the screwworm confirmation on Wednesday, with gains of $10.40 to the $10.75 limit. The CME Feeder Cattle Index was down another $4.93 on June 1 to $359.21. Slaughter beef type turn-out returning to feed cows 2.00-5.00 higher. Dairy slaughter cows 1.00-4.00 lower. Slaughter bulls weak. Late on Wednesday evening, the USDA confirmed a case of the New World Screwworm in South Texas after testing a suspected case in a 3-week old calf in Zavala county. It's important to remember there should be no food safety concerns associated with the screwworm.
