Compared to last Thursday at the same not market, not enough feeder cattle this week for accurate trends. Buyer attendance was light. Live cattle gave back some ground on Thursday. Futures were down triple digits at the close with losses of as much as $1.60. Slaughter cows and bulls 6.00-8.00 lower as to many are coming to market exceeding demand. Trade active especially for guaranteed grass fed cows. Demand light to moderate. USDA’s Export Sales report showed beef bookings were 15,555 MT during the week that ended 8/26. That was up 49% from last week and 32% from the same week last year. The data showed 18,122 MT of beef was shipped, bringing the YTD total to 616,213 MT. Converted Census data showed July beef exports totaled 297.3m lbs. That was a record for July shipments, marking the 5th monthly record for the 2021 season. Brazil reported 181,605 MT of beef exports for the month of August. That was up from 163,220 MT in August of 2020.
