Compared to last week: Steer and heifer calves traded unevenly steady on like kinds. Not enough comparable sales on feeder steers or heifers for a market trend. Trading activity was moderate on moderate buyer demand. Quality was mixed, ranging from a large string of cross bred reputation heifers to smaller bunches of calves with varying lengths of time since weaning. Once again buyers showed a preference for weaned calves with at least two rounds of shots. However, vaccination status appeared to be the most important factor today as the market begins its transition into fall the fall run. Slaughter cows and bulls traded mostly 10.00 to 15.00 lower, quality played a role in the large price drop. Cooler temperatures have finally moved into the area with highs topping out in the 70's and chances of rain in the forecast for most of the week.
