As filed

Compared to last week: Steer and heifer calves traded mostly 30.00 to 40.00 lower, with larger declines noted on lighter weight cattle. The lower market is in line with sharp declines noted across the cattle futures market. Most feeder and live cattle contracts closed down the limit on Friday and down the expanded limit on Monday. Futures closed mostly in the red again today. Yearlings too lightly tested for a market trend. Trading activity was moderate on light to moderate buyer demand. Not enough comparable sales on slaughter cows and bulls for a market trend. Replacement cattle traded mostly steady. The majority of the supply consisted of unweaned calves which buyers are still discounting due to large temperature fluctuations and concerns over calf health in the month of October.
