Compared to last week: Not enough comparable sales on all classes for a market trend. Trading activity was moderate to active on good buyer demand. Extreme heat continues across the trading region. Late spring and early summer rains recovered drought conditions across most of the Panhandle but recent dry conditions coupled with excessive heat is beginning to dry out soil moisture levels. According to the Texas Crop and Weather Report, the depth of the drought was July 12, 2022, when 99.24% of the state was experiencing abnormally dry to exceptional drought conditions. Almost 76% of the state was in severe to exceptional drought. As of July 20th, 2023 the US Drought Monitor shows that 58.91% of the state is still in some form of drought conditions but only 6.89% of the state is listed in the severe to exceptional drought categories.
