Reporter comment USDA

As filed

Compared to last week: Not enough comparable sales on feeder steers or heifers for a market trend, but a softer undertone was noted. Quality was more attractive this week on the load lots of cattle, making comparable sales limited. Trading activity was moderate on moderate demand. Buyers were a little more hesitant today with the large upswings in the grain markets over the last week, and the feeder board closing down. According to the Cattle Market Report and Analysis, the volatility in the grain markets is not surprising when evaluating the role of a combined Russia/Ukraine impact on global grain markets and the potential impact of the war on their spring planting season.
