Compared to last week: There were few comparable sales on steers to set a trend but a higher undertone was noted. There were few comparable sales on heifers as well, but buyer demand pushed the better and older heifers higher. Slaughter cattle followed heifers as high buyer demand and competition pushed the market higher. Average to high yielding boners and breakers were up 6.00-13.00. Good, healthy bulls also continue to push the market bringing over 200.00/cwt. The recent rains throughout the area have produced plenty of green grass and water, filling up tanks and creeks. It'll be interesting to see if this trend remains and helps to push herd numbers back up.
