Compared to last week: There were some gains and some losses among the calves and feeders but, the market remained strong. With the warmer days before the next big front, turn out was good and producers brought quality animals to town. Biggest gains seemed to be on the 400 pounders (both steers and heifers), with fancy and healthy, thin fleshed cattle in higher demand. Due to the inclement weather last week, there were no slaughter cattle reported. However; this week, high yielding slaughter cows and bulls had a high undertone, seeming to trend 10.00-20.00 higher than before the Christmas break. Demand was high and trading was active.
