Compared to last Friday: Steers under 500 lbs were lightly tested, with 400 - 450 lbs steady, and 450 - 500, 5.00 lower; 500 - 600 lbs, 5.00 - 10.00 higher; over 600 lbs, steady. Heifers 400 - 500 lbs, 2.00 to 4.00 lower; 500 - 600 lbs, steady to 3.00 higher. Good demand for this first of two special Wednesday sales, with a few load lots and packages. There was an active market, with order buyers and producers vying for some nice heifers. The offering was primarily home raised, with spring and fall vaccinations. Demand for spring calves continues, with crops finishing up and slaughter volume higher. The next feeder sale is Friday, 10/28, and the second Wednesday special will be 11/2.
